This weekend I got the email that every designer dreads….
“I am disappointed with how the project has turned out….”
My heart sank and I broke into a cold sweat because what the client didn’t like wasn’t a sofa or wallpaper, but a wall — a whole veneered wall. It’s the focal point of the room. It was a bitch to install and it will be a bitch to do whatever with……. But I understand — why settle for something that you are not happy with especially when you have the opportunity to fix it.
At this point, I have to prepare myself for the worst (rip it out and start again) but hope for the best (slight tweaks with faux finishing) but in the end, I have to see this as a learning experience. Somewhere along the way, communication broke down and expectations were not set. The client’s reality, is what matters, so let’s see what I can do. This week will definitely be a test but a right of passage that every designer must travel……
Hopefully your weekend left you recharged and ready to face those problems that arise in your own work life! Here is to overcoming barriers and being better for it!
