What Makes Me Joyus……

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to work with the amazing folks over at Joyus.com, an online retailer that integrates shopping and video into an overall seamless experience.  Myself, along with 7 other design bloggers were invited to participate in a light-hearted and fun “competition” which officially kicks off this coming Tuesday.

To officially kick-off the competition on Tuesday, Joyus and furniture retailer, HD Buttercup are throwing a party and have graciously allowed me to invite all my blog readers!

So if you are in the neighborhood, come down to HD Buttercup, say howdy and find out more about the competition.  To RSVP, click on the invitation above to get your name on the list.   And on a side note, big thanks to Kelley Moore for giving me this fantastic opportunity!

Stay tuned for the official launch on Tuesday!  I am now off to have lunch with a friend and draw up some furniture plans.  Have a GREAT weekend!

Agate is Forever…..

Some folks say diamonds are a girl’s best friend.  I would slightly tweak that saying to read agate is a designer’s best friend.  This versatile stone is one of my favorite go to pieces.  It conveys luxury, modernity, nature and fun all at once.  You can find it in a variety of forms from geodes to some of these more slick fabrications…..

Clockwise: Oly Studio Yves Side Table//Brenda Houston Agate Wood Root Table//Vivre Agate Napkin Rings

For myself, the Vivre Napkin Rings may find a home very soon.  However, the chandelier from Emporium Home is begging to be used in a client installation.  Imagine it over a  round wood dining table with Louis-style chairs, cream linen walls and barely there pink high-gloss ceiling.

Thump.

That was me passing out from sensory overload from that mental image…..

So is agate “rockin” your world as of late?  If not, what natural elements are finding their way into your home?

Hang Time……

I have a bad habit of buying art and never hanging it.  At the moment, under the guest bed there are no fewer than 6 paintings waiting to be framed and hung.  As we all know framing is an expensive endeavor and I somehow can never pull the trigger especially in the light that most of the paintings I have are under $100 from auctions and flea markets.

So the pictures sit in “art purgatory” until I either use them in a client’s home (which has happened twice now) or I gift one to a friend for a special occasion.  I was afraid that the paintings I picked up at the last auction were going to suffer the same fate so I grabbed the bull by the horns.  I decided that switch out the small gallery of framed fabric remnants in the music room   for the large “Modern Family” piece I picked up earlier this  month at the auction.

I am quite smitten with the change and think the painting is the perfect piece for the room.  The colors are spot on and I love the quirky subjects – it was destined to be …or at least that is how I think of it.

One painting hung and about 15 to go…….

So tell me, what do you keep buying and not using?  Jeans?  Dishes?  Small tropical islands?  Shoot me a comment or a tweet and let me know!  Okay back to homework……
