Today I give thanks to a man I never met. His presence soothed a wounded nation and galvanized a community that felt belittled, besieged and browbeaten. His presence led to change that allows me liberties that I now take for granted. When his life was taken from him, it was his lack of presence that moved a nation to reform laws to truly reflect its pledge for “….liberty and justice for all”.
So today, I give thanks to a man I never met, but who has inspired me for as long as I remember. Thank you Dr. King for letting me know that anything I can dream can become reality. I truly believe it is the hope of what can happen that drives us through life. And it is that hope that I pray everyone feels today…..
