Weekend Recap….

I spent this weekend lamenting that I should be doing work but complaining that I don’t spend enough time with my friends and The Partner.  I am finding that as the business grows, my free time shrinks, which I understand.  Here is hoping that I find that balance that allows me professional success and personal fulfillment…..

Friday, I was a day free of meetings, so I took the opportunity to run errands, search out lighting for a new project (isn’t the above lamp FAB?), return merchandise for clients and sneak in a walk with Scruffy to our favorite little park.  The redwoods towering over both of us and the cool breeze that tends to flow under their canopy is always comforting, plus I think Scruffy enjoys the “challenge” of trying to “lay claim” to such a vast territory.   On my return home, I finally fulfilled a long standing promise to myself  – rotate my dishes and other tableware just like I do my throw pillows.  I reorganized the kitchen cabinets pulling out some of the tableware that I love but have for some reason kept hidden.  It was nice to see some new things out and get inspired for future tablescapes which I know I have been sorely lacking in doing this year.  I finished just in time to greet The Partner with a nice glass of red and some quality time….

All too soon Saturday arrived and  I found myself back in the fray of work.  Many of my clients prefer Saturday morning meetings and while I don’t love them, I am in the business of providing excellent customer service, so hence I find myself more often than not meeting contractors, painters and the clients themselves to review plans.  This Saturday I met with a contractor for the Sansome Project and talked with the client about kitchen countertops.  Once that was finished, I rushed home to promptly continue working.  Fortunately, we were hosting of my favorite people for the weekend which forced me to quit working and start partying.  We had a fantastic dinner on the patio and I finally got to bust out our new string lighting (go Wal-Mart) and light the fire pit.  The festivities lasted into the wee hours and by “festivities” I mean drinking things that glowed in the dark and eating Korean fried chicken…

Since partying it was at the epicenter of my Saturday night, my Sunday was all about relaxing which included a delicious and leisurely brunch.  Sunday afternoon was about preparing for the week and realizing that this time next week I will be on my way for a 3-week vacation in Europe! OMG.

So expect some posts as I try to wrap my head around Spain, Monaco and France and the fact that lil’ ol’ me will be in the thick of it!  OMG.

Okay, enough about me…how was your weekend?  And did I mention I am going to Europe in 7 days? OMG.

Weekend Recap….

This weekend could have been all about work if I had allowed myself but after dealing with my Father’s health scare, I am trying with renewed effort to create a balance between work, blogging and life.

Friday…

So starting clock-wise, my Friday consisted of sitting in traffic, drinking coffee and dealing with shelving.  I was able to break up the cycle with a great shopping/scouting trip with a new client.  We spent the remainder of the afternoon, sourcing couches, chairs and tile for his quick turn around project.

Saturday…

Saturday started off oddly like Friday – sitting in traffic.  Fortunately, that quickly got remedied since I was meeting another client for yet more shopping for his long-term project.  This client is a bachelor (as evidenced by his fridge contents) and we have been slowly working on his place.  Up next is his downstairs lounge/television room which is all about relaxing and hanging out.  It is going to be a huge departure from the rest of the space where we have gone Euro-modern with lots of Italian furniture and sleek pieces….

If the grasscloth is any indicator, we are going for something softer and more relaxed.  I am excited and have already been pounding out designs for custom coffee tables to bring in the client’s love of photography.

Sunday…

Sunday was all about enjoying the day and truly focusing on my family and friends.  So what better way to do that than through consumerism which I ended up doing in spades thanks to Saks.  Technically, the spree happened last week but I was able to play with all my new goodies on Sunday, so I think that counts.  But between all the playing, was able to squeeze in some quality time with a few magazines, make a few phone calls to grandparents and siblings and have she quality snuggle time with The Partner and this beast….

Clearly, he felt he was lacking for love from his stance…

So that was my weekend, not that exciting but definitely packed.  This weekend looks to be just as busy with meetings with a furniture maker, contractor and the fantastic folks at DIFFA’s Dining by Design.

How was your weekend?

My Weekend…..

My weekend started off relaxing enough with a massage thanks to The Partner.  I was kneaded for  a glorious 75 minutes – by the end I was the human equivalent of Silly Putty.  We then headed off to brunch where I tackled a corned beef sandwich the size of my head.

Relaxed, bloated and happy, I came home to get acquainted with these…….

It was time to face the reality that I had real work to do, so I plopped myself down at the kitchen table and banged out some sketches for color options for a bathroom I am working on……

I spent the remainder of the day taking Scruffy to the dog walk near the bay (Point Isabelle) and hosting a couple of friends for an impromptu dinner.

Sunday, I was right back to the grind as I made final fabric selections for a living room project ….

And then revisited my impromptu “workspace” aka the dining table to bang out some more sketches to determine an accent wall color for the same project……

Once all of that was settled, I was greeted by a lethargic dog thanks to his month flea and tick medication …..

Worried about our little fur ball, The Partner and I took turns through the night getting up to check on him.  He is still a tad off his mark but he ate all of his breakfast so I am grateful for the progress.

So that brings me to Monday — and guess what I will be doing?  Yup, drawing some stuff for class.  So if you please excuse me, I have to clear the breakfast dishes off my work space.

How did your weekend go?  Accomplish your to do list or did you lounge on the couch and catch up on your DVR watching?
